Stretches to Help Improve Digestion


💡Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and spent the day filled with smiles, laughter, and good food!


During the holidays we are bound to gain a pound or two, with all the food we are consuming it may be hard to digest and we may feel bloated.


Below are a few simple stretches that may help speed up the digestion.


1. Twist

Starting in a seated position, extend your right leg forward. Bring your left leg over and place the sole of your foot flat on the ground.

Keeping your back straight, extend your left arm and place the palm on the ground, close to your bottom.

Twist to the left side of your body, leading with the chin and looking over shoulder, while bring your right arm to rest on the outside of the left leg.

Hold for 5 seconds. Relax and slowly bring your body to the starting position.

Repeat for 5-10 times for each side of the body.


2. Seated Forward Bend

In a seated position, inhale while lifting both arms above the head.

Exhale while bending forward, brining your nose towards your knees. Hold for 5 seconds.

You can also wrap a towel around your foot and pull towards you to help bending your upper body forward.

Inhale and slowly bring your body back up to the seating position, arms stretching above the head.

Repeat this for 5-10 times.


3. Knee to Chest

Lying flat on your back, raise your arms above your head while inhaling.

Exhale while brining your knees toward your chest and wrapping your fingers around the shin. Hold for 5 seconds.

Inhale and release your fingers, brining your arms back above your head, and lowering your legs to the starting position.

Repeat for 5-10 times.
