Hand Warm Up Exercises

Cold weather is fast approaching and one of the common features that tag along is getting cold hand and feet. Today we will be showing a few hand warm up exercises that can help increase your hand mobility but as well can be used to improve fine motor controls and increase tactile and proprioceptive senses.

1. Briefly rub the palm and back of your hands to help make them feel warmer. The molecules on your skin move faster as you rub your hands together which help generate heat and increase the body temperature.

2. Press your hands and fingers together with your palms flat. Firmly press them together for 10-20 seconds and then stretch your fingers out wide. Repeat for 10-15 times.

3. Hook your fingers from both hands together and pull on opposite directions. Hold for 10-15 seconds.

4. Touching only the tips of your fingers, rotate your thumbs around each other. Rotate them 10 times following one direction, then rotate another 10 times in the opposite direction.

5. With your hands separated, use you thumb to touch each fingertip alternatively. Starting with the thumb and index finger work your way to the pinky and back again. Repeat for 10-20 times.
